IXPN the West African Regional Internet Exchange Point
Following the request for proposals by the African Union Commission through the African Internet Exchange System (AXIS) initiative, IXPN won the bid to be the Regional IXP for West Africa. The Regional IXP status of IXPN is expected to promote the Exchange of Intra-Africa Internet traffic within the West African region and the continent at large.

ABOUT AXIS PROJECT
The African Internet Exchange System (AXIS) aims to keep Africa’s internet traffic local by providing capacity building and technical assistance to facilitate the establishment of Internet Exchange Point and Regional Internet Exchange Points in West Africa.

Having regard to relevant AU decisions related to the African Internet Exchange System project, the African Union Commission signed an agreement with the Lead Financier (Luxembourg Development Agency) to support the implementation of the African Internet Exchange System project funded by the EU-Africa Infrastructure Trust Fund and the Government of Luxembourg.

To support the establishment of;

Internet Exchange Points (IXP) in Member states of the African Union Regional IXPs

Regional Internet Carriers

To develop a certificate curriculum on Internet Exchange Technologies
