Nigeria has established the Internet Protocol version six (IPv6) Council forum that will help in the smooth transition from IPv4 to IPv6, and it has received the backing of the IPv6 Forum.

CEO, Internet eXchange Point of Nigeria (IXPN) and a Board member of the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA), Mr. Muhammed Rudman, is the Chairman of IPv6 initiative, while the CEO of Mobile Software Solutions Limited and 2014 awardee for World Software Award for mobile content in Africa (WSA African Content),  Mr. Chris Uwaje, as vice chairman.
